„Poesie der Nachbarn“

Ein Übersetzungsprojekt der Landes-Stiftung Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck und des Künstlerhauses Edenkoben

Die Landes-Stiftung Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck und das Künstlerhaus Edenkoben laden in jedem Jahr ausländische und deutsche Lyriker zu gemeinsamer Übersetzungsarbeit ein. Die Ergebnisse, vertieft um Einblicke in die kulturliterarischen Traditionen und gegenwärtigen Tendenzen des jeweiligen Nachbarlandes, werden in zweisprachigen Lesungen im Künstlerhaus Edenkoben und im Südwestrundfunk Mainz dem Publikum vorgestellt und für eine Radiosendung aufgezeichnet. Außerdem werden die Arbeitsergebnisse in einer zweisprachigen Publikation zusammengefasst und bei einer Lesereise einer interessierten Leserschaft vorgestellt.

Bisher waren bei dem Übersetzungsprojekt etwa 80 (Nach-)dichter aus dem deutschsprachigen Raum sowie über 100 Autoren aus 21 Sprachen zu Gast: Dänemark (1988), Ungarn (1989), Spanien (1990), Island (1991), die Niederlande (1992), Bulgarien (1993), Italien (1994), Frankreich (1995), Norwegen (1996), Irland (1997), Estland (1998), Rumänien (1999), Portugal (2000), Finnland (2001), Griechenland (2002), Russland (2003), England (2004), Ukraine (2005), Schweiz (2006), Slowenien (2007) und Schweden (2008).

„The Poetry of Neighbours“

A Translation Project of the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck Foundation and the Artist’s Centre Edenkoben

Every year, the Arp Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck Foundation and the Artists’ Centre Edenkoben invite poets from foreign countries and from Germany to a joint translation workshop. The results, enriched by the insight into both the literary and cultural traditions and the current trends of each of the neighbouring countries, are presented to the public in bilingual lectures at the Artists’ Centre Edenkoben and at the SWR radio station in Mainz and are recorded for a radio programme. Furthermore, the results obtained during the workshop are compiled in a bilingual publication and presented to an interested readership on a reading tour.

Until now, there were about 80 (rewriting) poets of German-speaking regions as well as more than 100 authors with 21 different languages who took part in the translation project: Denmark (1988), Hungary (1989), Spain (1990), Iceland (1991), The Netherlands (1992), Bulgaria (1993), Italy (1994), France (1995), Norway (1996), Ireland (1997), Estonia (1998), Romania (1999), Portugal (2000), Finland (2001), Greece (2002), Russia (2003), England (2004), Ukraine (2005), Switzerland (2006), Slovenia (2007) and Sweden (2008).
